Brian Hilton Motor Group CEO - Josh Hilton in the new Brian Hilton Motorsport Comples

Brian Hilton Motorsport Complex - 900 Pacific HWY, Lisarow

An innovative addition to the Brian Hilton Motor Group, the Lisarow based workshop and showroom is home to some of the most exciting cars qround: a fleet of Toyota 86 Racing Series cars, tarmac and classic rally cars and the latest range of Performax Trucks.

Set to officially open in November, Brian Hilton Motorsport has redefined the customer experience. No, you won’t find uncomfortable chairs and out of date magazines in this waiting room – in fact you won’t even find a waiting room.

Taking advantage of its funky re-purposed warehouse, the Brian Hilton Motorsport facility is the ultimate ‘man cave.’ With its own Ignition Café and offices made from shipping containers, the new business will be a rev-head retreat with some of the hottest performance upgrades available for brands in the Brian Hilton Family including Toyota, Nissan, Renault and Honda.

Brian Hilton Motorsport also runs the largest team in the newly formed Toyota 86 Racing Series – with the four-car assault from rising stars Luke King, Josh Hunter and Drew Ridge, and gentleman racer Gerard Maggs.

The man behind the concept, Josh Hilton said being a part of the series was important for the iconic Brian Hilton Motor Group, and sees it as a great way to uncover and support tomorrow’s racing stars.

"The Brian Hilton Motor Group has been a Toyota dealer on the Central Coast for the past 45 years so it was logical for us to be a part of the new Toyota 86 Race Series which is going to be a great showcase for driver talent and for our new motor sport facility,” he said. “We have focussed on nurturing talented young drivers as well as providing preparation and organisation for amateur racers like Gerard Maggs,” said Josh Hilton.

King joined the team with the 2014 Australian Manufacturers Endurance Championship to his name, along with a raft of Formula Ford wins and experience in the V8 Ute series as a test driver for a leading team.

For Hunter, motor sport is in his blood as the grandson of 10-time Australian Champion in Speedway racing, Garry Rush. A natural talent, Hunter won the third-tier V8 championship, the Kumho Touring Car Series in his rookie year in 2012 and also has experience in the Supercars feeder category, the Dunlop Series.

Despite being the youngest in the squad, Ridge is an accomplished racer with a national kart championship to his name, and has competed in the Formula BMW in Malaysia and was a standout performer in Formula 4.

Meanwhile, Maggs joins the team as a relative newcomer to the sport with an incredible amount of enthusiasm and an eagerness to have fun and see where he ends up - or in his words, “As long as I’m not last.”

The 86 Racing Series is a highly competitive national racing series on the support bill of the V8 Supercars championship the Victoria’s Winton Raceway, Sydney Motorsport Park, Sandown 500, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and Sydney’s Homebush street race. Based on a Pro-Am (Professional and Amateur) model, the series has attracted a huge 38 car field, with everyone gunning for a whopping $125,000 seasonal prize pool.

At the season opening Winton Raceway event, Brian Hilton Motorsport declared its intentions early, with Hunter topping the first ever practice session. The strong results followed in qualifying, with Hunter and King both earning top 10 starting spots, with Ridge 14th. However, when racing got underway it was a baptism by carnage. In the opening race, Hunter and Ridge were caught up in an accident which saw them finish at the back of the field.

They became the ones to watch in the subsequent races as they charged through the field, Hunter making up a staggering 13 positions in just 10 laps.

King was also on the receiving end of the weekend’s carnage, punted off track in a closely fought battle up the front, only to have a wheel ripped of his car by a metal grate in the grass.

According to the Brian Hilton Motorsport drivers there is plenty of speed in their cars, but it the challenge lies in keeping clear of other people’s mistakes in the coming rounds. “We know the Brian Hilton Motorsport Toyotas are quick, and I think we can unlock even more pace for Sydney,” King said. “We just need to qualify up the front and be clear of all the carnage. It’s like a pinball machine out there,” Hunter added.

While the presence of the operation is strong in the Toyota 86 Racing Series, its involvement in other forms of motorsport is building. Currently Brian Hilton Motorsport also runs Josh Hilton’s Nissan GTR Targa Tasmania car, his Classic rally Corolla and the Datsun of Jeff Davies.

Looking to the future, the outfit also has its sights set on the increasingly popular GT Racing ranks – and will no doubt put the Central Coast on the map amongst racing networks. From what began as a dream for Josh Hilton, the Brian Hilton Motorsport facility is now the home of speed on the coast.

But it’s not just about racing. Brian Hilton Motorsport offers a range of upgrades for the every-day drive. It’s as if the Brian Hilton Motor Group has its own bespoke special vehicles operation – a one stop destination to give a car a bit of extra edge.

Home to the most unique café on the coast, Brian Hilton Motorsport is also the ideal place to get away from the grind and take some time out with a unique view, and rumbling soundtrack of performance cars. That’s our idea of time out!
