Australia was the first market in the world to see the new Renault Koleos in showrooms when it arrived on sale in August.
The new Renault Koleos was first shown at the Beijing Auto Show in April the all-new model will play a crucial role in Renault’s Australian lineup providing a smart European designed prestige SUV at a highly competitive price with a load of features and style.
The new Koleos replaces the original model which first arrived in Australia in 2008 and is bigger both inside and out, making it and is one of the roomiest medium SUVs in its class.
The new Koleos is a significant step forward for Renault and will add to the growing success of the marque in Australia offering French flair and pizzazz in a package size that is increasingly in demand from Australian car buyers.
It kicks off from $29,990 plus on-road costs for the entry-level Life 4×2 model while the mid-spec Zen is available from $33,990 in 4×2 spec and $36,490 in 4×4 form, while on the top shelf the Intens 4×4 is priced from $43,490 – all plus on-road costs.
It boasts a powerful but efficient 2.5-litre four-cylinder fuel injected petrol engine producing 126 kWs of power at 6000rpm and 226Nm of torque at 4400rpm, it is coupled to a newly reengineered CVT automatic transmission and comes with an impressive 2000kg towing capacity.
Koleos also delivers impressive fuel consumption figures using 8.1 litres per 100km on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions at just 188g/km (8.3L/100km, 192g/km for 4×4 mode) enhancing its green credentials.
Renault has designed the Koleos with great ground clearance offering 213mm between vehicle and the ground along with approach and departure angles of between 19 and 26-degrees ensuring good off road capability as well.
The new model is longer and wider and more attractive than the previous Koleos. Up front it has a muscular and defined hood with four different bodylines that feed life into the grille below.
Renault has clearly put in a lot of work when it came to redesigning the Koleos, and that work has paid off making this arguably one of the more attractive SUVs out there at the moment.
Inside the Koleos is an upscale cabin that brings real competition to the mid size SUV segment. There is impressive leather seats, armrests and center console. As well there is blue ambient lighting in the storage pockets on the door and ahead of the gear shifter, just under the infotainment display. Speaking of infotainment, the Koleos comes standard with the R-Link2 system that serves as a hub to control things like the Bose audio system, navigation, hands-free telephone use and other driver aids displayed on the impressive 22 cm touchscreen which is oriented vertically and integrated into the center stack.
The interior is luxurious and is a very comfortable place to spend time in and will have enormous appeal to a wide range of SUV buyers looking for a vehicle with European savoir-faire and superior engineering.
The new Koleos is available for test drive at both Sydney City Renault in Alexandria or Brian Hilton Renault in Gosford.
